A petition is calling for R. Kelly’s removal from the SOULQUARIUS lineup

R. Kelly

The SOULQUARIUS lineup was recently announced for Saturday, February 18th 2017 at the Observatory Grounds in Orange County. The R&B showcase includes performers The Internet, Erykah Badu, Willow Smith, The Pharcyde, and BJ the Chicago Kid to name a few.

You will also notice leading the lineup roster is the self proclaimed “Pied Piper of R&B,” R. Kelly. Since the announcement, eager concertgoers have showed their dislike of this news, and that’s putting it nicely! On Change.org an ongoing petition has reached over 900-signed supporters with a goal of 1,000.

The Grammy award-winning artist has an almost unreal criminal record that involves the indictment of felony charges for sex with a minor, child pornography, statutory rape, and of course  forging documents to marry 15-year old Aaliyah when he was 27. The petition does not hold back on calling out its intentions, labeled “Kick R.Kelly’s rapist ass off the SOULQUARIUS lineup:

“2017 is around the corner and many of us still have to look on in disgust as a proven predator, rapist, and serial abuser of young Black girls and women remains embraced in the world of music.”

The petition is just about at 1,000 signatures now, but you can still support if you see fit. What are your feelings on this? Check out the full petition. Check below for the full lineup of SOULQUARIUS.
