Kanye West is nowhere to be seen, but Pusha T‘s video for “M.P.A.” takes me back to ‘Ye’s earlier days, to a degree. Socially conscious themes and melodic instrumentation are among the characteristics that remind me of College Dropout. The song, which also features A$AP Rocky and The-Dream, discuses three addictions that Push asserts are plaguing his community – money, pussy, and alcohol.
Solemn piano and mournful electric guitar strums sharply accentuate the weighty themes throughout the song, and creative directing further contextualizes what is being said. Watch the video for “M.P.A.” below.
